Governance & Accountability

Who is responsible, and who checks them.

We keep three things apart: who holds legal authority, who does the day-to-day work, and where records are kept. That way, growing doesn’t mean losing control.

Legal identity

Legally declared in Cameroon

We share the legal details donors and partners need, without publishing ID documents or private member data.

Statutory governance and operational appointments are not the same thing.

The Executive Bureau in our approved legal documents is the official governance record until it is changed through the proper process. Later volunteer roles or programme assignments don’t change it automatically.

Registered Executive Bureau

Roles recorded at declaration.

This is the record at the time of declaration. It doesn’t describe every role people hold today.

F

Financial controls

Our statutes require funds to be held in a bank or microfinance account in the association’s name. Any withdrawal needs the joint signature of the President and the Treasurer. If the Treasurer is unavailable, the Secretary General can co-sign (Article 16).

P

Privacy controls

Databases have secured access. Personal data is not shared without explicit consent, except where the law requires it (Article 18 bis). Our Safeguarding and Data Protection Policy, approved on 3 October 2026, sets the detailed rules.

C

Member discipline

Under Article 8 of our statutes, the Executive Bureau can remove a member for serious misconduct, including breaking the confidentiality of survivors.

R

Records

Minutes, approvals, registers and proof of completed work are kept so decisions can be traced.

Mancho Tebo Salif

Data Protection Officer

Mancho Tebo Salif is ASMI-Cameroun’s Data Protection Officer. He keeps the records of how we process personal data, advises on privacy risks, coordinates our response if data is ever exposed, and supports people who want to see, correct or delete their information.

He was designated by Executive Bureau Decision DEC-017/ASMI-CM/BE/2026 of 3 October 2026. This is an operational appointment and does not change the statutory Executive Bureau listed above. Our Safeguarding Lead is the President and Executive Director.

Raising a safeguarding or data concern

  • Reach the Safeguarding Lead (the President and Executive Director), the Secretary General, another Executive Bureau member who is not involved, or our official email.
  • If the concern involves one of those people, it goes to someone else who is not involved.
  • Serious concerns are escalated immediately, and within 24 hours where reasonably possible. This is our internal standard.
  • No one is punished for raising a concern in good faith.
